Artist
Ernestine Romero

Hello Ernestine Romero,
We appreciate you taking the time to star on this weeks “Interview of the week” section on TejanoFM.com. Where fans get to read about the thoughts and experiences of new tejano artist and the legends of the industry. A place where fans can learn a bit of biography on their favorite artist and get some entertaining insides on their careers. Here’s a series of fun and informative questions we have just for you!
Where is your hometown? Where's a good place to eat for someone visiting?
I am from a small town called Pojoaque which is about 25 minutes away from Santa Fe, NM. When I visit which is quite often I love to go and eat with my family at a family owned restaurant called the Tortilla Factory. They have my favorite food which is Coctel de Camaron.
How long have you been in the tejano music industry?
I started singing when I was about 4 years old. My dad was in a band as a drummer and singer. When he retired I was 4 and I knew that's what I wanted to do was sing. I learned my first song from La Sombra called El Sapo by watching the Johnny Canales Show. I also loved Selena and would sing all her songs. When I was 11 I recorded my first CD entitled "Recuerdos". Every 2 years from then on I recorded a CD. When I was 19 I got my first break and recorded my 5th CD in San Antonio and got to work with the greatest musicians and engineers that I had looked up to growing up. I just recently released my 7th cd total but my 3rd Tejano CD. I am now 24 so I have been professionally in the Tejano Music Industry for 5 years.
Who are your greatest musical inspirations?
My dad would be my first greatest musical inspiration and my motivator. Without him and my mom, I would not be able to fulfill my dream. My second greatest musical inspiration would be of course Selena. I loved everything about her and since I was small I wanted to be just like her. I also love and jam out to Stefani Montiel, Elida Reyna, Shelly Lares, and Jennifer Pena just to name a few.
Your latest album is “Aqui Estoy”. What can you tell us about it?
"Aqui Estoy" would have to be my favorite album that I have done so far. I worked really hard on it and it contains cumbias, racheras, originals, and a few classics that I absolutely love. A huge thank you to Pablo Urbina, Cesar Lara, and Eddie Perez for the great job on my CD. The CD was recorded at Key of E Studios in New Braunfels, TX and was produced by Pablo Urbina with Urban Art Entertainment. I'm very proud of this project! It was a blast creating this with Pablo and Eddie and the rest of the very talented musicians on the album.
What’s the average time to produce an album from start to finish?
For some odd reason since I have been recording, I have released a CD every 2 years. I like to take my time and really put my heart and soul into every album. Plus traveling back and fourth from NM and TX is so awesome because when I leave and then come back again, it feels like I never left.
How many albums have you released? Do you have a favorite? If so why?
Like I mentioned earlier I have just recently released my 7th CD and I would have to say that this is my favorite one so far. I was just able to express more of my heart and soul and really relate to what the songs are written about.
What got you in to tejano music? What is needed to get more of the young generation listening to the music?
I just love the music and the heart all the Tejano Music Artists have. I have so much respect for them because I believe they are just so talented. I am just very grateful that I can be a part of the tejano music industry and hope to be able to get more involved. I hope that in the future we can get more of the young generation to listen to Tejano Music. By me being young and having a young following, I am hoping to motivate my fans and the young generation to listen more to Tejano music.
   Favorite song to perform?
My favorite song to perform would have to be track #2 off my new cd called "Baila Mi Ritmo". It is just so up beat and a fun cumbia to dance to.
   Menudo or Barbacoa on Sundays?
Between the 2 would be Barbacoa but I would love me some hot Posole with red chili especially after a long night of singing and dancing.
Where can fans find the latest news on Ernestine Romero?
